Water based ink that requires a dual cure emulsion or capillary film intended to bleach out the color in a 100% cotton garment. The fabric MUST BE DISCHARGABLE for this ink to work. Also, the water based ink must penetrate the fabric to discharge the color. The problem is garments are not marked, and so you are taking a risk that the ink will not work. Union Ink also makes Plasticharge Inks which contain plastisol and water based inks. The problem is the same; the dye in the shirt must be dischargable. The solution is simple. Use Super Opaque White Water Based ink (ATEX-1020), printed through a dual cure emulsion, as an under-base. The image area will not be bright white, but the color strength of the image area will be reduced to a white tinted by the color of the garment. The advantage of either approach is an image area where there is no "hand" or feel to the print area. Then print a plastisol ink with 230 mesh over the still wet water based ink. Plastisol inks have more color strength, are more durable, and can be printed on top of water based inks. An accomplished screen printer can use a 305 mesh for a softer print. The water based discharge ink requires the addition of the ZFS Agent. |
